Jogeta's Perihelion: "It's All About Perspective"

Updated: Jun 13, 2025

Nearly 100,000 listens, multiple shows, and over 50 songs released all in the early stages of his career keep rising rapper, Jogeta, extremely busy. I met the blooming star for the first time on a stark January night after being invited to his recording studio. The rapper is kind and relaxed while sporting a subtle look as his studio is home-based, cozy, and welcoming to friends. This night is no different as he sits across from me alongside four friends he leans on for moral support through his very first interview:

S: what’s your name?

J: Jogetta, getta, lil getta. Anything you wanna call me just don’t fuck it up. *laughs*

S: What’s your sign?

J: Leo.

S: What traits do you display best from that sign?

J: I don’t know too much about my sign, I just know I’m him.

S: What helps you get into “song mode” before a session?

J: I just gotta have good energy with the gang. But if I’m alone? Get high, smoke, or maybe drink, whatever I’m in the mood for.

S: How did you get the name “Jogeta”?

J: Anime. I watch Dragon Ball Z and Naruto mostly. I got it from "Vegeta".

S: Who is that?

J: Vegata? Saiyan, Super Saiyan. I’m him, just like Vegata. I feel like I’m underestimated a little bit. I feel like I’m on it once I’m in that mode, I go. I’m going crazy.

S: Where are you from?

J: Columbus, east side.

S: How old are you?

J: 21

S: How’d you get into rapping?

J: Just growing up listening to music, mostly Lil Wayne, Chief Keef—I’d always be rapping to the music feeling just like them, it was normal. I can't think of a time music wasn't the biggest part of my life.

S: So it's safe to say you have a strong connection with music?

J: Hell yeah. When I wake up I'm listening to it, in the bathroom I'm listening to it, everywhere listening to it I don't care what's going on, fuck it.

S: So what is in the Geta rotation this week?

J: I've been listening to a lot of Chrome, a rapper from Denmark I connected with on Instagram. "Boot" by me, "Wwyd" by Destroy Lonely, "Drank Head" by Chief Keef, and "SEALS" one of the latest songs from my sister, JAS.

S: Who or what keeps you motivated to continue making music?

J: Myself, my family, my gang, and everyone that enjoys my music. I can’t be down I just gotta be on go; that’s what keeps me truly motivated.

S: What was the song or musical experience that made you realize “this is what I want to do on a serious level"?

J: When I first made "Day 2" on Soundcloud and heard it all the way through I was just like ‘wow’ I thought to myself I could go far if I just start taking everything seriously from then on.

S: Do you have any dream features?

J: Chief Keef, Future, and Lil Uzi. Everybody else? Fuck em. I already got the features with my people so I’m cooling. That's what I really need.

S: What do you want out of your next tape? What message do you want to send?

J: The next tape I drop I just want people to know I’m here and to let that shit be motivation. I'm in this shit to really be here and stay here; I want that to rub off. I want everyone to feel like they can do them; whatever that looks like to an individual. Whatever doing them looks like—not just rap or business—take it to the top. You get the most out of life that way.

S: What do you think is the best song you ever made?

J: Man what! I love them all…what do y’all [his friends] think?

Nard: "818" for sure.

Mike: "Wyd Geta" is that shit!

Josh: Mine is "WYLL".

J: Yeah I’d have to agree with all those, but I have to include "Baby Geta". Dropping all those tracks is when I first started to come out of my shell and realize I could turn the world all the way up. I actually did a music video for "WYLL". I'm enjoying the process of creating visuals, I used to only care about the music. I just shot my third video recently and it was a great experience.

S: What does a dream shoot look like for you in which budget is no object?

J: I’d rent a crib out with no neighbors and have my gang with me. Cars up the driveway, we riding dirt bikes and shit. *laughs* I need cold women for the gang too, I got mine so I’m cool. *laughs* Just good vibes. Not much is needed for me to feel satisfied with a shoot as long as I feel good.

S: What is the Jogeta writing method like?

J: I’ve never written any of my songs out.

S: Never?

J: Ever. *laughs* I feel like I let my best thoughts out when I’m just flowing on the beat. Whatever I was going through that day is sure to come out on the tape.

S: Finally, If the world was yours for a month what would it look like?

J: Man, who the world belongs to is all about perspective, it’s everyone’s, it’s yours, it’s [HBK] Bucks, it’s theirs all at a certain time. Just know when the time comes they’ll see what I’m doing with it.
